Second Grade Forgiveness.

My sonny boy received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time last night in anticipation of receiving Holy Communion (or is it Holy Eucharist now?) in the spring.  The latter cannot be had without the former as most of you already know - TRADITION!  - no, CEREMONY! - no, more like exasperating useless arcane Catholic dogma.  Bitter? Party of one over here please!

Anyway, Lil Dude was just too cute for words in his khaki trousers, baby blue button down oxford and blue and silver striped tie.  We could see him the whole time through the glass of the confessional room as he was "confessing" his sins to the old priest assigned to his class.  At one point I could see that his head was tilted back, eyes skyward as he tapped a finger on his chin contemplatively.  He does this sometimes when he's really concentrating and it's a habit of his I hope he never loses because it's so friggin cute.

Anyway, he told me later that he was thinking hard because the priest told him to limit his confession to his "top 3" sins and he was working it out in his head which ones were the real whoppers.  I'm glad the priest was as interested in getting the hell out of the confessional box quickly as we were about getting home and limited him to "just 3".  Amen to that!
